Non-toxic home cleaning products

Cleaning is one of the most time-consuming duties towards our homes. Hence, technology and research organizations have been competing to ease and simplify this recurring task, either by providing a labor-intensive solution, or a product to assist with this process.

However, with the introduction of hundreds of new cleaning products, a rise in concerns about their safety has surfaced. The components of the chemical products used for cleaning are often thought to cause allergies, irritations, or even toxification in extreme cases, which is why many users prefer to use natural (non-toxic) cleaning products in their household. In that context, we decided to share with you some popular natural cleaning products often found in households.

Baking Soda

A household must-have is baking soda, which – besides its baking uses – is often used in cleaning as it deodorizes, cleans, and brightens grime and grease stains.

Castile Soap

‘Castile soap’, is another natural cleaning product, made entirely from plant oils without any animal products or chemical detergents. It is preferred over other soaps for its effectiveness against greasy stains and its natural components.

Vinegar

A common natural cleaner is vinegar! It’s acidity works wonders on grime, soap scum, and grease! All, of course, with a gentle touch.

Lemon Juice

Next is Lemon juice, not the sweetened though! Natural Lemon juice is an efficient surface shiner and a natural deodorant!

Olive Oil

For polishing, your best natural choice is olive oil. A harmless and seamless shine, guaranteed.

Essential Oils

Often used in ‘aromatherapy’, essential oils are a go-to post house cleaning for their potent and long lasting scents.

These household-friendly products can be mixed together for greater efficiency or for specific stains removal which may require a stronger compound. For example, ‘baking soda’ and ‘essential oils’ are often mixed together for a long-lasting fresh odor after cleaning. Vinegar can be mixed with water and filled into a spray bottle for surface cleaning (minding marble surfaces that may get damaged due to acidity). Nonetheless, these natural products are, in fact, a non-toxic replacement to the commonly used chemical cleaning products that often cause allergies, or health complications over the long term.
